"Churchill must now admit that on 28 December 1939 the English Battleship "Barham" was heavily damaged by a German submarine torpedo. The giant ship of 195 metres length and 31,000 tonnes water displacement had only recently been modernised at an expenditure of millions. The main armament is eight 38.1 cm. cannons. In addition come twelve 15.2 cm. cannons, eight 10.2 cm. flak guns, twenty smaller guns and eight anti-aircraft machine guns." - Wehrmacht, June 1940
