Malta
picture - All a bit dark, but this is Malta, with the entrance to the harbour off to the left. Lightening this pic up a bit, the ship on the left is a Royal Sovereign class battleship, with very large anti-torpedo bulges and a tripod mast, so either HMS Ramilles or HMS Royal Oak - I suspect the former because, while both were given a catapult on "X" turret in 1934 (similar to Barham's, off-set to port on the turret top), in Ramillies this was removed in 1938 and I don't think this ship has one fitted. The ship next in line is difficult, but could be another Royal Sovereign class without the large bulges - though the awnings are different and I can't make out the detail. The next two ships are County class 8-inch cruisers, but are too distant to make out the detail. In the background on the shore-line is Malta's floating dry dock, moored in its usual position. JCS
