A most fascinating house, Croft illustrates the turbulent history of this part of England. The essentially defensive exterior contrasts with the comfortable and decorative state rooms inside, most date from the 18th century and there are fine plasterwork ceilings, rare furniture and family portraits. The park contains a superb avenue of 350 year old Spanish chestnuts. The walled garden is independently maintained by the Croft Trust and contains a various historic fruit trees and plants.
