Santiago is not exactly the most popular city among visitors to South America. It is not especially lively or happening neither in the Western nor the Latin American sense. The central area is chock-full of un-architecture almost obscuring the architecture, and is not only largely unattractive but also quite tattered and seemingly just barely holding on to life in many parts, with the car oriented just-like-the-States new skyscraper district built in the affluent outskirts far away from here.
