Lake Ilmen is the fifth largest lakes in Europe. Its area is 600-2000 square kilometres, width is about 35 km and length is about 45 km. Deepness is 20 meter, half of it is filled by sapropel. Maximum height of water column is 9 meters, minimum 2.5 m. Twenty years ago the maximum height of the water column was 20 meter. The lake will not exist after 15.000 years.
