Fred: Thank you for the information. I have about 8,000 slides that I need to convert to digital file and burn onto DVD or CD format. A Nikon comes well recommended but I don't feel like spending that much. In the end, I'll probably settle for the Minolta Dimage that I can get thru Amazon.com for less than $300 USA. Thanks for the info! I enjoy your pictures!!!

This is for David who did not give his email address. I used a Jessops slide scanner which i bought for £120 I scanned at 1800 dpi to give approx 10 to 12 Mb files. I could have scanned higher but it means much larger files I did not also want to pay large sums for a film scanner as I only have approx 2000 slides to process.

Nice clarity. What kind of a scanner did you use if I may ask? I am thinking of buying one for myself. I can not decide between the Nikon and the Minolta Coolscan.
