During a 2004 Utah/desert southwest trip, I spent a few days in the Mexican Hat area. When returning back to town after a day of hiking and sightseeing, I reached the entrance to the scenic drive through the nearby Valley of the Gods. It is a longish drive along a dirt and gravel road, but I figured I had enough daylight left to make it worthwhile.
