This is the view of the terrain from the beach at Anzac Cove, The Sphinx, so named after the similarity to the region where ANZAC forces had stayed and trained in Egypt before travelling here to capture the area from the Turks in April 1915. The temporary wooden "grandstand" made from 4 x 2 timber and held together with 9 inch bolts would seat thousands the following evening and dawn for the emotional service on April 25th.
