"We're here, Eric ! Antarctica ! ... Bottom of the World !" Next stop was Punta Arenas, the jumping off spot to Antarctica and the South Pole , about 600 miles away. Four of the eight at our dining table took a flight to 'see' the Pole (at about $1,000 each ). We chose instead to see that famous penguinero, the penguin colony.
