This set of Photographs was taken between 1990 and 1999. Up to the early 90ies the vast majority of all resorts and restuarants were build of wood and other local available materials and candles and petrol lights very the only lights on the island along with very few generators which powered few resorts and dancings.

A water pipeline from the mainland plus 24h electricity began to change the live on the island. During this decade the small sand road in the center of the island was paved and Boracay became the full fledged tourist resort it is nowadays - complete with resorts featuring airconditioned rooms in concrete buildings, fresh water swimmingpools and all kind of water sports available.
