Torre del Clavero
Sightseeing in Spain picture - Today, the Tower of the Key's Keeper remains as a testimony of Salamanca´s bellicosity in Low Middle Ages and it is the only fortress inside the urban center. Comprised by a square rubblework base and a higher part made of ashlar masonry, it has an octagon form, with eight cylindrical sentry boxes that display the Anaya and Sotomayor´s shield. It has a square base, becoming eight-sided higher up. It is presumed that the tower was built in the year 1485, and it is all that remains of the ancient aristocratic house of Don Francisco de Sotomayor, key bearer of the order of Alcántara.
