Beginning May twenty-third I took the Queen III from Copper Harbor to the island for a four night, five day backpack trip. This was my forth trip to Isle Royale. I spent nights at Lane Cove, Chippewa Harbor, Moskey Basin, and Daisy Farm. The weather looked threatening most of the time but only rained on one particular day. The bugs were starting to become bothersome in the interior of the island but were much less prevalent at the camps on or near Lake Superior.
