European cities are not easy places to photograph because they tend to be very busy and overwhelmingly ornate, but you have done a wonderful job! I particularly liked "Reflections" . The townhouses and the water canal coexisting together is cleverly summarized in your selective uprighted image of the reflections only. "Queens Day in Amsterdam's Dam Square" works because the juxtaposition of curves & straight lines, and their placement within the frame, provides an edgy, dangerous feel to the pictures, giving me a sense of what it must have felt like on those rides. Anne Frank and Rembrandt
It was interesting to me, Mano, that you single out my pictures of a statue and a painting of Anne Frank and Rembrandt, respectively. As I pointed out in the caption of my final picture (Westerkirk at Dusk), the legacy left by these two historical figures seem to capture the imagination of visitors to Amsterdam more than any King, Queen, Prince, or Prime Minister of Holland. It was a thrill to visit their homes and feel their presence.

Philip, great photos yet again.

Canon G2 has been accused of being unflattering in its portrayal of the human skin. For this reason, I find this camera interesting.It shows people as they are.

The image of Anne Frank, all alone and looking skywards portrays the apathy and indifference that the non Jews in the occupied lands in Europe felt for the Jews. They allowed the Holocaust to happen. This photo is a powerful statement and yet again, you have brought the statue to life.

Your pic of Rembrant's portrait echoes the chirascuro that he is famous for.You are extremely sensitive to the subjects at hand.

Seeing you pictures of Amsterdam made me go digging through the garage for pictures of my trip with Rob and Jon 12 years ago. Our pictures are of a little different cultural side of the city, but I did remember the mantra: big, big, big, in, in, in!!!! I am looking forward to seeing the other sections of your site.

Your spirit and eye again give us richness. In this set I am drawn to: Queens day in the square for the way the elements stand out so well from the gray sky, Souvenier Store for wow the shoes!, Modern Art for the composition with the stripes and people through the doorway, Rembrandt's store room for the way the branch seems like veins on the scultpure, Color and more for yup the color, and past and present collide for not only the abstract but the interpretation.
