Firenze -- Michelangelo's Second Pieta<br> Sightseeing in Tuscany picture - Michelangelo worked for years on this sculpture for his funerary chapel in Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome between 1548-55 but left it unfinished. It was at first placed in the crypt in San Lorenzo then, after 1721, behind the high altar in the Cathedral and lastly, from 1933, in the left transept, where it remained until 1980. (November 2001)
