After testing his idea on six steam traction engines, the Holt company began commercial production of the steam-powered &#34;Paddle Wheel Traction Engine&#34; in 1906. Although Holt company shareholders were initially reluctant to allow the manufacture of gasoline powered crawler tractors, by 1908 they were rolling off Holt&#39;s assembly line in Stockton, California. In Alberta they were used primarily on large grain farms in the southern part of the province. 18,000 pounds 60 horsepower 4 cylinder.
