The cathedral is at the crossroads architecturally between the Romanesque, Gothic and Plateresque styles. Founded in the middle of the 12th Century by Fernando II, it was authorized by him on July 17, 1165. The church has three naves, a transept, and three apses. Construction ended in the 14th Century; the cloister was finished in the 16th Century. Outstanding inside the cathedral is the altar in alabaster by Luis Mitata and several tombs of great artistic value.
