The mid-section of our trip to France was to Rhone Valley and the Alps. Lyon was a wonderful city, much less busy than Paris and very charming and liveable. The scenery in the Alps was spectacular, with fall colors peaking in October. Unfortunately the weather in Chambery did not cooperate, but it was really the most rain we had during our entire trip. All that meant was that we hung out in cafes for a longer time.
