In the distance is the neighboring island of La Gomera. It felt strange to be looking down on the clouds from on top of a mountain, and the air was very thin up there. I was out of breath from climbing to the top (the cable car only goes up so far), but the views were spectacular. Climbing El Teide was probably as close as I'll ever get to being on top of the world!
