The Cathedral houses an impressive collection of several dozen reliquaries, and several imposing tombs, including that of Louis Habert de Montmort (shown here), a French bishop of the early eighteenth century. His recumbent figure was sculpted by Frédéric Marès, a famous sculpter from Barcelona! The relics agitated my West Michigan sensibilities. Dr. S had, of course, not prepped us, so I stared confusedly for some minutes at what appeared to be shrivelled hands, fingers, etc. before I realized what was going on. I understand that I am to excuse the display of withered apendages as "cultural." I hope they also excuse my thinking it morbid and horrible as "cultural."
