The winter of 2004-2005 in the Sierra Nevada has been especially moisture-laden. This is delaying access to the High Sierra. Yosemite is not going to open five of its usual summer camps at all because of snow, but it has meant a spectacular spring of wild flowers. We've had several enjoyable day hikes and have picked a few photos to share with you. Some of the identifications are tentative, our book has 95 different kinds of yellow flowers alone. We used "Wildflowers of the Eastern Sierra and Adjoining Mojave Desert and Great Basin" by Laird R. Blackwell. Many good flower views can be reached by car if you don't feel like hiking.
