... and probably never here-after for that matter. These pictures were taken begin April 2003 when the Chinese were having the Barkhor upgraded. The Barkhor is the holy khora pelgrims route that encircles Jokhang temple, the holiest place in Tibet.
The old cobblestones were being broken up to be replaced by more fancy newer ones, probably flat and even like the ones on the big square in front of Potala palace. I'd rather have the old bumpy ones.
