<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> INDEPENDANCE FIELD KOTA BHARU ( PADANG<br> Sightseeing in Kelantan picture - Independence Field is a historical site and has witnessed many major events. It was here that the corpse of Tok Janggut Pahlawan Kelantan who fought the British was hung upside down in 1915.It was here too that the declaration of the countrys Independence from Britain was made on 31st August 1957. The area was the site of the Kota Bharus Floating Market (Pasar Terapung) before Sultan Muhammad II (who was also called Long Senik Mulut Merah) built the Grand palace who faces the field in 1844.The areas was then known as Padang Kelupang. It was renamed Padang Bank in 1906.when Sultan Muhammad IV built a bank , Bank Pitis , as the depository for the coins that were being produced at a mint within the Palace grounds. The Bank still stand near the entrance to the Grand Palace. The field acquired its present name in 1957 . </div></nolayer></noembed>
