Henry Hudson Bikeway NJ

The Henry Hudson bikeway is currently 10 miles long. It stretches from Clark Ave and Broadway in Aberdeen to the Atlantic Highlands Harbor. Extensions of the trail are being planned east to Sandy Hook. A 9 mile section is now under construction from Matawan to Freehold and segments of this extension should be open in 2004.

Unexpected use of the bike trail.
This trail has no lighting and often runs directly behind residential homes. It parallels HWY 36 but is hidden behind the stores along the highway as well as many trees and bushes. Criminals have been using it to rob houses because it is a perfect get away route.

Aberdeen/Matawan Station
I'm from Matawan and have been on the trail a few times doing bike runs for my Scout troop. It's a good ride. I also saw the Kevin Smith reference. Spend a day in Red Bank, NJ and you can see a lot of spots in his films. Check out my homepage sometime.
