Built in 1898 to replace the original Sydney Markets, this beautiful Byzantine building occupies a full square block. It used to have a concert hall which became the City Library.

In the 1930's it was remodeled into city offices. Ipoh Garden Berhad, the Malaysian company changed it into a shopping centre in 1984. It was called the "most beautiful shopping centre in the world" by Pierre Cardin. The shopping centre has, domes, domelets, stained glass windows and wood paneling.
