We travelled to Costa del Sol last year for the first time and had such a great time we are going again this year! The people, scenery and accommodations are wonderful. Shopping was great, came home with an exquisite small statue that reminds us of the great time we had, ceramics with the brightest colors we have ever seen, unique jewelery and stuffed camels and donkeys for fun. We toured a small family factory that specializes in inlaid wood boxes, fascinating. We bought several for gifts in the size that holds two decks of cards. The leather items were a good buy as well.

Food was very interesting. We discovered that there are many Nationalities represented in the Costa area. Irish, English and German pubs and restaurants are very plentiful (and GOOD). Indian, Moroccan and local food was delicious as well, we are now addicted to olive oil for everything. There was no shortage of good seafood items. The seafood salads were so different we had to keep ordering them to try to discover the secret - we think we did and serve it often at home - guests rave about it. The Hotel buffet breakfasts and dinners are incredible. The dinners change themes nightly, but you have to reserve in the morning, early, or you will dine elsewhere, a good indication of the quality.

The sunrises have to be seen to be believed, the sun is a bright orange when it comes up, (I know why!) but it is still breathtaking. The condos and apartment architecture is stunning the first time you see them but for true excitement take the local bus to Mijas. If you are faint of heart, don/t!!! It is safe, they lose very few buses over the side, (just kidding). The views from the top are spectacular, the trip itself is interesting as you pass by and have the opportunity to peer into normal lives in yards and homes. The town itself is easy to walk and is a great place to sit and watch the world go by or to explore the absolutely unique shops. They have one of the premier places to purchase Lladro and the store is located in a cave that dates back to the 4th century. Lladro is probably as expensive as here, but the choices are so much more than you will ever see in this country. Even if you are not a collecter it is well worth the trip to look - and don/t miss the jewelery store next door. Can you tell I loved it? Will be happy to answer any other questions anyone has!!
