Mt Irau, Cameron Highlands, Malaysia

Mt Irau is locally known as Gunung Irau. At 2110m, it is the 15th highest mountain in Malaysia. The peak has a border marker shared by 2 states - Pahang and Perak. To go there you have to travel to Cameron Highlands and proceed to G.Brinchang by road. You will need to hike about 3 hours to reach G.Irau from the road. Need ur advise
I plan to climb Mt Irau this Sat(25/9)with a friend of mine. We have some trekking experience but I am not sure what Mt Irau is like.Is it advisable to hire a guide along and is the weather permitted?

Please advise.

Gunung Irau Climb

Tips for hiking Gunung Irau
Hi! It's great to have stumbled this post! I'm preparing to hike this wonderful mountain. However, I'm not well trained physical as well as mental wise. That means my stamina is not that good and I don't really know what necessities to bring along while hiking. i went for simple hiking before which was equipped with guide. I'm on my own this time. will you share with me some tips on that? Thanks ya~~

I was there in 2003, it was my first time (without any training and experience before) and i had a very hard time. Being a 70kg girl was not easy also but my friends, very experienced hikers, which i met few hours before the journey gave me the umphh to catch up with them. I regret for not being able to capture the beauty of Irau coz i was too busy talking to myself to keep on...but i wish to thank you for living up the memory of my sweetest memories, on Mt Irau...

i was in Irau for the 1st time of my first during my traverse recce of G Irau.

it is sad to see that rubbishes are everywhere, from false summit to real summit.

it is "wounded" seriously just because it is the 9th Highest Mt in Peninsular.

i would say it is time to give her a break

We're there (16) of us recently on the 10th October 2004. Raining cats and dogs, freezing, wet and reallyy swampy..except for the mossy forest..the summit is nothing to shout about. Nature has taken its toll. Maybe on a dry season it's different.To go back there again? Hmmm...
