In late May we returned to Rome to visit some familiar sights and see a few new ones. During this visit we attended the Beatification Mass for Pope John XXIII celebrated by Pope John Paul II, on Pentecost Sunday, June 3,2001. This was the only time I could think of that two popes were on the altar at the same time.

After Rome we continued on to Venice, Verone and Varenna on Lake Como.
