Local Specialties in Penang picture - This exotic Malaysian style salad is a mixture of fruits and vegetables tossed in shrimp paste (haeko). Cucumber, yam bean, pineapple, mango, guava, cuttle fish are tossed in the black shrimp paste together with crushed peanuts, sesame seeds and dried shrimp paste (belacan) powder. Some hawkers also add in deep fried bean curd, nutmeg and eu char koay (deep fried dough made from flour & yeast).
