BC)<br> Sightseeing in Sicily picture - One of the biggest and best preserved Greek auditoriums remaining, accommodated 15,000 people in 59 rows. The Romans altered the theatre to allow for Gladiatorial combat, moving back the first few rows and adding marble seats for priviliged spectators. Nowadays, it is used for concerts and Greek dramas. There was going to be one on the night that I was there, you can see it being set up. Unfortunately set up like this you cannot see the actual stone remains very well, but you get an idea of what it might have been like many centuries ago. </div></nolayer></noembed>
