Monreale is a small hill town just outside Palermo. I wasn't really enjoying Palermo, and had heard that the cathedral in Monreale was spectacular, so I jumped on a local bus and went to have a look at it.

I didn't see much of the town, it just seemed like a typical regional town, and I didn't have a huge amount of time.

The cathedral, or Duomo, was as spectacular as I'd heard. Outside it is quite pretty, but inside it is incredible. There is barely a surface that is not covered in mosaics and frescoes. The ... (more)
