As recently as thirty years ago, to most people Ottawa was a quaint, well-mannered town populated with dull politicians, bored diplomats, and faceless bureaucrats. Sure, it had parks and green spaces galore, and was a picturesque spot to visit for a day or two, but it was often described as "the town that fun forgot". There was practically nothing to do!
