This smaller brick prayer house (1905)
Museums in Saskatchewan picture - came from the village of Gromova and was made of brick manufactured locally by the Doukhobors. It is reminiscent of the prayer houses that were located in each of the more than 40 Doukhobor villages that sprang up in the first years of the century. The prayer house now serves as the historical and literary area of the heritage village. There's a large collection of Russian literature in the entrance area, and a Leo Tolstoy museum in the small back room that was once used for guests. Much of the materials were donated by the Soviet Ministry of Culture.
