We all met 6th August 2005 7:30 AM for our motorbike trip to Pocharam 115kms of Hyderabad. 8 bikes and 1 car...a group of 15 in all. things moved in a movie style with 8 bikes goin zoom zoom... We had plans to see Pocharam Wildlife sanctuary, Medak Church and Medak fort. We started off from Hyderabad Public School. Anand and Atul zoomed ahead whereas Ganesh stood anchor to all of us following the whole group as last bike to take care if somebody's bike breaks down. Me and my wife, Neetu were in middle moving from 3rd position to second last. Our first leg was Hyderabad Public school -> Paradise Circle -> Tarbund Circle -> Medchal -> Kompally -> Dhulapally -> Satyam Technology Center Bahadurpally. The road was good except the selective patch from Kompally to Bahadurpally. We decided to have some breakfast at dhaba(road side eatery) near Satyam Technology Center Bahadurpally but the dhabas were closed. So the search started ultimately few villages later at Annaram we could get some idli and bread butter. From there Medak was 58 Kms. So we zoomed ahead on very good road with very less traffic and good scenery all around. Road side was green with forest sometime banyan trees forming roman arch doors. We saw lot of monkeys few huge chameleons on the way. When Medak was 17 kms away we made a pit stop just to relax chat and have some pics. Atul and Anand were missing as they zoomed ahead. Though this place was not as beautiful as what we left in the way still we had some pics there. Shivank exercised his photography skills at this pit stop. We started again and reached the church. The church was beautiful especially the stained glass work. We prayed there and moved ahead. Then we had our lunch near church at Hotel Chandra Bhavan. Food was OK. We were ready to move towards Pocharam Sanctuary but Atul's bike was not starting. Then it started to rain. Atul's bike got started after a local mechanic cleaned up the carburetor and spark plug. Atul did had his bike serviced before the trip but his bajaj dealer (Rahul Bajaj, Hyderabad) didn't cleaned his carburetor and spark plug just washed the bike and gave the bike back. After reaching the sanctuary we found that you need permission from forest department to get in. We didn't have that we should have been got that from Hyderabad itself. Still we could see one animal we are still debating whether it was neelgaay or cheetal. Then we discussed whether to go to manjeera forest or Pocharam Reservoir. After sometime we decided to go to Pocharam Reservoir wich was 1.5 Kms from Pocharam Sanctuary and then go back to Medak fort and then back to Hyderabad. Pocharam Reservoir was full. We sat and relaxed there, tried bouncing some small stones over water. Searching the way to Medak fort was the real puzzle. Almost everybody got lost in the gullies but slowly in different lots we managed to reach the starting point of small trek. When asking directions for Medak fort as about "kila" not fort and ask for rangrez gully.Everybody was tired by now, some ppl wanted to drop out but still we went ahead and saw the fort. Its a good but neglected fort. There we decided we won't go back to Hyderabad directly we will have our dinner at Dhola-ri-dhani. After the fort we started for Dhola-ri-Dhani and decided to have pit stop at 40 kms again Anand and Atul zoomed ahead. Ranjit use to zoom on and off. I followe by Ganesh were at the end. We made 40kms in 25 minutes. Then stopped for tea and started the last leg to Dhola-ri-dhani. Atul missed one turn and reached Chintal then he came back. By the time Atul reached Dhola-ri-dhani we already had some boat and camel rides. Dhola-ri-dhani is Rajasthani ethnic village kind of resort. Though its generally good but on that day they were just looting people off their money as they reduced facilities on that day in the name of teej mela and hiked up the prices. We still enjoyed our food there. We were about to leave to head back for our homes but then we heard kajrare kajrare and everybody stopped to see that live dance by a local performer and she was good. What a way to end a great day. Went back from there and slept nicely. Thanks to Ajit, Siddharth, Anand for the photos contributed by them.
