I'm planning for a trip to Angkor wat in Nov, thus browsing thru' many Angkor pictures to get some ideas of this place. "Wonderful : Having spent some time at Angkor myself, I know how difficult it is to shoot there. When we were there it was almost impossible to shoot without getting other tourists in the frame. You have somehow managed to go at an hour when foot traffic was minimal and you have made the most of it. The colors of Angkor at their best
Thanks for giving us a look at mystical Angkor at its most colorful, Cecilia. You often use color itself to make your point, particularly in the first four pictures, and in your images of orange clad monks amidst the gray and brown ruins. My favorites are "Sun rising over Mt. Meru", which tells us what heaven must look like, and "Three monks and their ladies", using incongruous juxtaposition to link today with yesterday. I salute your view of the enduring struggle between roots and ruins, as well as the orange clad statue of Vishnu. I had a chance to shoot the same subjects at Angkor two years ago, and am in awe of the beauty of your interpretation. Thank you, Cecilia, for sharing these with us. I cannot believe no one has commented on this article!! Your work is such a treat for the senses. I just took a brief 'trip' through them, but will return to savor them again. So many are outstanding, but if I had to choose a favorite, I Really love 'Three Monks and their Ladies" At least that's today's favorite... The one of the Cambodian lady is very sad.
