Banff to Radium fire
I am from Sask. and we drove through Banff to Radium (Sept.11) and were shocked at the damage done by fire. It brought tears to our eyes. We've never seen anything like it. It is very sad.

Evacuation status issued by BC Forest
BURTON FIRE, Arrow zone, east side of Arrow Lake Fire status * 2 km North of town of Burton (Mt. Marshall) *Started August 7 and remains about 500 hectares in size *60 fire fighters and about 11 pieces of heavy equipment continue to patrol the southern and western perimeters. A fire guard construction ongoing on eastern perimeter and contingency guard on West side Evacuation status *The August 22nd Evacuation Alert for the Ingersol fire (west side of Arrow Lake) also applies to this fire. Communities affected: Burton, East Arrow Park, Arrow Park and the residences along Highway 6 from Stoney Creek in the south and north to McDonald.

Burton Nakusp fires
Spent August 10 @ 20 in area. Fires seem to be from 10km past Fauquier and beyond Nakusp. Helicopters are flying constantly from 7am to past dark in Burton area and Nakusp Trout lake area. The mountain across teh Arrow Lakes was lit up by a helicopter as a back lite to try and join to stop fire. A gentleman had to boat across the Lake at this point to try and herd his cattle out of harms way re the purposly lit fire..Amazing to watch the bravery of all working on fire, helicopters flying into heavy smoke to drop waterand retardent..Good luck to those affected and those fighting.. update on Burton fire
Sunday August 16, near Nakusp, about 30km North of Burton. The air has been thick with smoke for the last three days. We cannot even see the mountains across the lake. The small community of West Arrow Park, across the lake between Burtom and Nakusp, is being evacuated. It is very scary. I promise to never complain about cold wet summers (we get those too) again...

Canadian Voice for Animals Uk Rep.
Amazing pictures and it brought back memories for me also - my former husband fought fires from a plane in Ontario. so destructive are fires, but nature has a way of healing herself in time. What is so terribly sad is the immediate loss of our forests and our wildlife. Many fires are started on purpose, and I wonder about the type of mind who finds pleasure in such destruction ! These are amazing pictures and our thanks to the brave men and women who risk their lives putting out these fires !
