In April 2002, I spent one week working with doctors in a small mountain village in the Dominican Republic. We lived with families in a town called Guayabal. Monday through Friday, the clinic (housed in an old discotec) would open and we would see many patients. The doctors would do exams, and provide necessary medications through a pharmacy that we also operated. Although we spent most of our time in Guayabal, we did visit other towns for the day to help as much as we could.
