Dominating Sparrow Hills, a wooded ridge in the middle of Moscow, is Moscow State University. At thirty six floors high, it is the tallest of the seven Stalinist-Gothic skyscrapers that dominate the city's skyline. Today, these buildings -- built by Russian ruler Joseph Stalin in the 1950s -- are popularly known as "wedding-cakes".
