Portobelo - Beautiful Port

Portobelo was named by Christopher Columbus in 1502. For a while it was was the richest port in the known world as it was the headquarters for the transport of the Spanish plunder of the Americas. As a result, there were many forts build here and the village is currently placed amid these ruins. This village was a wonderful surprise and treat on our cruise. Spulling?
Thank you for the spelling corrections, believe it or not I, also, was an English major, but clearly not a spelling champ. The animal head is the large item next to the red post. It looks like it is used in a parade or something.

Wonderful photos! Loved the colorful ones, esp! "peaking" should be spelled "peeking". Warf should be spelled "wharf". (don't mind me!English major and spelling champ!) I didn't see any animal head in the Yard photo????

Hues of Humanity
There are some lovely images in this story, Tim, awash in both color and human values. They are beautifully saturated, which capture the essence of Portobello and its people. Six of them would make a memorable grouping if framed together on a wall -- Dancer in Waiting, Watching, Father on Fort, Singer, Bus 2, and Curlers. They are all simple in design, free of distractions, and eloquent in their beauty -- some of the finest images posted on this site. Congratulations.
