This is actual distance (no zoom). He was about 75 yds away. Sniffing and shaking his upper body the whole time, obviously quite agitated. At the time I thought he didn't know I had retreated up the slope off the trail, but when I looked at the pics I realize he had looked right up at me. You can see this by looking again at the first pic of the griz in this series(look at the photo in full-size image).
