In Kyoto!! Kyoto picture - A fellow JET and I decided to make one last weekend trip to Kyoto before the start of our teaching. For those of you who don't know, Kyoto is largely considered THE heart of Japan. The ancient capital was spared the bombings of WWII and therefore maintains many of it's original shrines and temples. Dan had never been here before so it was fun for me to tag along and return to this fabulous city. We took the overnight, eight hour bus ride from Kofu to Kyoto. This is Dan and I right outside Sanjusangendo Temple a few hours after arriving in Kyoto. This temple is famous for housing 1001 golden statues of Kannon (photos were not allowed to be taken inside the temple).
