Batam Island one of Singapore's closest third world neighbours. One hour by ferry from the World Trade Centre this Indonesian island provides some relief from the sterility of Singapore. Stuck in Singapore transiting for elsewhere? Why not head across for a few hours? These photos were taken on an overcast Sunday afternoon in a shanty town area 10 minutes outside of Nagoya City. [Nikon D100/ 28-200mm lens/ 2X teleconverter (muslim girl) and 17-35mm wide angle (two close). post-processing Adobe Photoshop 7]
