Here is my presentation of Burton and the surrounding area located on Lower Arrow Lakes in the West Kootenays. I took these pictures at different times of the day from early morning, right after sunrise, during the day, and at sunset. You can notice that on some pictures the reddish sunset is caused by smoke from the forest fires which winds brought in from the Kamloops area.
As I am writing these comments, I do not know how much forest is destroyed and how the scenery has changed since the time that I took these images. Heroic fire figthers from a different part of the country now battle this forest inferno at Ingersol Mountain while controling the wildfire on Marshall Mountain..
All I know is that these recent events have had a profound effect on local populations including the one hour evacution notice that is still in effect.
All presented pictures were taken during the second half of July, 2003 before the forest fire on Marshall and Ingersol Mountains in Burton.
