The subway in Buenos Aires (Subte is short for Subterráneo) is pretty much the best way to get around other than the slightly confusing bus system. Unfortunately, it shuts down at around 11:00pm. After a few trips with extensive written directions, I got the hang of it. Once, as I was examining the map in one of the stations, a guard came up and tapped me on the shoulder, shook his head disapprovingly and gave me this map.
