This is the 3rd day of the east coast trip. We spent the morning on the central cross island highway (TienHsiang to Taroko). The area is in the Taroko National Park. This is the official website of Taroko:
http://www.taroko.gov.tw/english/ The highway was built along the canyon. There are many big white rocks down the river of the canyon. There are many beautiful marble stone.
And, that afternoon, we went to Shakatang (Shenmiku) Trail which is a nice place to hike and swim. The entrance is near the park headquarters to the west . Through the tunnel of Shakatang about 8 hundred meters from the headquarters ,there is a bridge connect to it. On the right of the bridge head, take the stairs down to the trail, you are on a spectacular journey to experience the wonder of the nature. The trail, about 1 meters wide and easy to hike, passes through areas of lush vegetation, clear sparkling pools, and abundant marble carved with fascinating designs by the fingers of nature. Shakatang means "molar" in Atayal's language.
