The photos for this article were made during two trips to Kenya. The first trip was in 1986 and the second trip was in 1996. Both trips involved going to the same parks and reserves and in some instances straying at different lodges and camps. It was significant to note the changes that had taken place in some areas when other areas remained the same. There was a reduction of rhinos everywhere and a definite reduction of trees that were around the swamp below Amboseli Serena Lodge. There was also an increased problem with crime in the larger cities. In 1986 I walked around downtown Nairobi and Mombasa alone during the daytime and did not have any problems. In 1996 I would not even consider doing that.

I still think of those two trips as being favorites among many retirement travel experiences that I have had.

I will establish another article about Kenya people and places when time permits.

I tried to inentiy the animals but sometimes it is difficult even with identification photos. This is a very specific problem with birds. If you can help identify some of the unnamed species please let me know.
