Aside from its unique culture, history, and geography, the northern region of Asturias is well known for the celebration of the apple and its wine, or "sidra". There is a ceremony where a person pours from over the shoulder, the bottle high up in the air, into a thin glass held by the other hand at waist level, the person who "throws sidra" as nonchalant as the torreodor appear when facing el toro. Here's a whole street devoted to sidra bars as well as other Asturian treats (such as tapas and wines and cheeses). Next up is a good illustration of the classic tradition of pouring sidra. (Yes, it's alcoholic, but not strong, and some people drink it with a passion as others love beer or wine.) I enjoy the ceremony, and find it a refreshing drink on a warm summer day. :-)
