They look more innocuous in this shot than in the preceding two. The cables are 900 feet long; the difference in elevation is 400 feet; the average grade, then, is 44.4%, neither the 60% nor the 30% indulgers and machos, respectively, claim. Edit! I just noticed that my calculation is invalid. The actual grade (based on these numbers) is 49.6%. Can you see why?
