Formby Dunes near Liverpool, owned and managed by the National Trust, is one of the last remaining red squirrel strongholds in England. The Dunes, an area of sand dune forested with Scots Pine trees, backs on to the Irish Sea. The squirrels are used to being fed and will come quite close, especially if you are prepared to keep still and make no sudden movements.
