The Face of Time, Franciscan Cloister Eastern Europe picture - Dubrovnik's Franciscan Monastery, with its 14th century cloister, is one of the most beautiful Romanesque structures in Dalmatia. Although the monastery itself was almost completely rebuilt following an earthquake in 1667, its cloister was undamaged. Each of the many columns that surround the cloister are topped by a different figure, some of them strangely haunting human heads such as this one.
