The wide Placa, paved in marble and lined with restaurants, shops, churches and palaces, gives Dubrovnik the feel of Venice and Florence. Like all of the streets in the old town, the Placa is for pedestrian traffic only. In the evening, the huge crowds of day tourists depart, leaving more space for those who frequent Dubrovnik's colorful taverns and cafes.
